Every box has at least 15 short prints and a pair of memorabilia cards. The 2013-14 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey set is something of a beast to build.At the same time, it's not daunting like some other sports card sets. It begins with a 100-card base set. These Single Diamond cards are not short printed.
This is followed by 50 Double Diamond cards that fall 1:3 packs. Fifty Triple Diamond cards also land 1:3 packs combined. These are broken down into 25 regular cards and 25 Rookie Gems that are distributed evenly.
Quad Diamond regular cards and Rookie Gems are both inserted 1:14 packs. Both subsets have 25 cards. Put it all together and a complete set of 2013-14 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey has 250 cards. The set also has three main levels of parallels. All levels of regular cards (veterans) and Double Diamond cards have Star Rubies (#/50), Emerald (#/10) and Sapphire (1/1).
Rookie Gems Triple and Quad Diamond cards are a little different. Star Rubies are numbered to 150.
Rookie Gems Emerald parallels have 25 copies each while Sapphire cards are numbered to 5. Although rare, there are also autographed parallels. As far as memorabilia cards go, Black Diamond Dual Jerseys are the main cards. Inserted 1:10 packs, this works out to two per box. Autographed versions are numbered to 5. As in past years, this memorabilia cards can be combined to make puzzles. New for 2013-14 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey are Quad Diamond Rookie Gems Relics.Distributed via Golden Ticket redemptions, each card comes with four real diamonds embedded in them. Designed in a shadow box style, there are 25 different one-of-ones available. Like past years, 2013-14 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey also has a handful of rare inserts. Championship Rings fall a total of four per case.
These returning inserts honor the Stanley Cup-winning Chicago Blackhawks (1:105 packs) as well as some all-time greats who hoisted the most prestigious trophy in hockey (1:140 packs). Lustrous cards come in three levels: Rookies (1:240 packs), Stars (1:720 packs) and All-Time Greats (1:1,440 packs). Die-cut Hardware Heroes cards return, numbered once again to 100. Gemography autographs land 1:110 packs. Every 2013-14 Upper Deck Black Diamond Hockey hobby box has a bonus pack of UD Ice cards.
Each pack has four regular Ice cards and one Ice Premieres rookie.
